In Venezuela the story occupies a unique place. It emerged at the dawn of the republic, at the end of the third decade of the nineteenth century, is usually considered the most representative genre of the country, sometimes even above poetry or any other literary manifestation.
This sample prepared by Miguel Marcotrigiano fulfills the double condition of revaluing some of the impulses of the social-Venezuelan body of the last 25 years, while at the same time evidencing the technical achievements of the story in the context of the national literature and, by extension, in the written Latin American culture.
The selective criterion has allowed to include storytellers of the most varied ages, narrative and poetic tendencies in order to draw a map. In this sense constitutes, it a valuable approach to characters and circumstances that manage to survive or survive in the midst of ruins and disenchantment.
